Director Biography – Rachel Britton
Rachel Britton is a Michigan-based artist who uses photography and experimental film to glorify powerhouse femmes and eye candy. Born with an identical twin and fraternal triplet, Britton pays homage to sharing the womb with composite photographs. Playing dress-up and switching places with their twin early on was the catalyst to their love for drag, adornment and disguises.
Britton’s composite photographs were born from compulsive behaviors that developed over time. It’s the dissociation and triggers that drive these behaviors that Britton is drawn to sharing in their practice. By digitally conjoining their photographs that they engulf in psychedelic colors, Britton exercises control over thoughts that they often feel helpless against.
Britton is published in Billboard Magazine and has exhibited at Leather Archives and Museum in Chicago, Illinois; Queer Arts Festival in Vancouver, BC, Canada; the ArQuives: Canada’s LGBTQ2+ Archives in Toronto, ON, Canada; HUMP! Film Festival; San Francisco PornFilmFestival; Pornfilmfestival Berlin; and Natalie Seroussi Gallery in Paris, France among others. Britton will be attending Tom of Finland Artist Residency in Los Angeles, California in 2025.
